  At this private practice -- YOU ARE A CONSUMER FIRST, then a patient. I have been a patient of Dr. King for 8 years ... first at Austin Regional Clinic and then followed him to his private practice. Potential Patients -- LISTEN UP -- if you go to Dr. King, YOU ARE A CONSUMER FIRST, and then a patient. This doctor only cares about the money he is charging you. What happened to doctors being doctors who care about people? I have had three incidents with Dr. King. First - when he prescribed an antidepressant for me during a stressful time in my life when my husband left me. I had called the office to talk to him about refilling my prescription and couldn't talk to him without making and PAYING for another appointment. I told them I was going to stop taking them because I couldn't afford the doctors visit (the last one cost me $165). I told the nurse to have him call me. He didn't. I told the nurse I was going off the medication. Result: A week later, I had a 3-day terrible headache and later learned it was due to the fact that I had gone off the medication immediately. Second: The cost of his office visits. If you go to him, be careful of UNNECESSARY lab tests and anything else he might point out that he can discuss with you. I went to him for a routine exam - he noticed that I had a cold sore (didn't touch or treat it) ... then CHARGED ME an additional amount because he noticed it. Third: I was in Florida with my granddaughter to take her to DisneyWorld. I had a cold sore and needed a prescription called in for a medicine I've been taking for over 20 years. His office refused to call in the needed prescription. I begged the nurse to have him look at my chart and call in the prescription so I wouldn't be sick during my only vacation with my granddaughter. I begged the nurse to have him call me. She returned my call and stated, "Dr. King said you wouldn't have this problem if you keep your annual appointments up to date -- that this situation doesn't warrant a phone call from him." I HAD TO CALL MY PREVIOUS DOCTOR FROM ILLINOIS, WHO I HAVEN'T SEEN IN 8 YEARS. HE RETURNED MY CALL IN 20 MINUTES AND CALLED THE PRESCRIPTION IN FOR ME. THAT IS A DOCTOR!!! TO DR. KING, I AM A CONSUMER....A CUSTOMER WHO PAYS FOR HIM TO WRITE A PRESCRIPTION. I AM FIRING DR. KING FOR HIS BLATANT DISRESPECT FOR MY WELL-BEING AND FOR HIS LACK OF COMMITMENT TO ME AS A PATIENT. I'M SURE IF I PAID FOR ANOTHER APPOINTMENT, HE WOULD BE HAPPY TO WRITE A PRESCRIPTION FOR ME. DR. KING -- FOCUS ON PEOPLE WHO ARE SICK AND STOP WORRYING ABOUT SCAMMING MONEY FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE HEALTHY!!
